How do I make outgoing calls with a translator on the line?
Call your active TalkTool Auto Connect line with Include dial-out enabled, press 1, and enter the recipient’s phone number when prompted. TalkTool places the outgoing call and translates the conversation.
Step-by-step instructions
Enable the dial-out option
In My Translators, create or manage your Auto Connect line. Choose Include dial-out during setup, or enable Dial-out choice in the line’s settings.
Call the TalkTool line
Dial the active line from your mobile, desk phone or landline. An Auto Connect line uses its configured language selection. For the shared conference line, enter the organization and language codes shown in your dashboard.
Press 1 to start a new call
Choose the dial-out option rather than press 2, which connects an interpreter for merging into a call already in progress.
Enter the recipient’s number
Follow the spoken instructions to enter the full destination number. Let TalkTool connect the call and wait for the other person to answer.
Speak in your own language
Introduce the call, speak in short thoughts, and pause for translation. Because TalkTool places the call, each side receives translation in their listening language.
A practical example
A field employee needs to call a Spanish-speaking customer in the United States. They call the team’s active Auto Connect line from their mobile, press 1, and enter the customer’s number when prompted—for example, +1 (202) 555-0142, a fictional number used only for this demonstration. TalkTool calls the customer with translation connected. Press 2 instead when adding an interpreter to a call already in progress. No laptop is needed.

What does press 2 do?
Press 2 connects the interpreter so you can merge TalkTool into an existing call. Press 1 asks TalkTool to dial a new recipient.
Why is there no dial-out choice?
The line may be configured as Just connect an interpreter. Review its settings and enable the dial-out choice before using this workflow.
Does my phone need a Merge button for dial-out?
No. TalkTool places the recipient’s call. Merge is needed when you add TalkTool to a separate call already on your phone.
