Add a Live AI Interpreter to Any 3CX Call
Already running 3CX? Use its built-in conference or attended (warm) transfer control to pull a TalkTool AI interpreter onto the line. It translates both sides of the call live, in 60+ languages, for a flat $0.25 a minute.
How do I add an interpreter to a 3CX call?
On a live 3CX call, use the Conference control or an attended (consultative/warm) transfer in your 3CX Web Client, the 3CX desktop app, the mobile app, or your deskphone's Conf soft key to add a second leg, and dial your TalkTool conference number. When TalkTool answers, enter your organization code followed by #, then key in the two-digit code for the language the other person speaks (for example, 01 for Spanish). Press 1 to have TalkTool dial your customer and merge everyone, or press 2 if the customer is already conferenced in. From that moment the AI interpreter listens to both sides and speaks each person's words in the other language with about a one- to two-second delay, so your agent and the caller can hold a natural back-and-forth. There is nothing to install in 3CX — TalkTool is not a marketplace app or API connector. It simply joins the call over the telephone network the same way any other participant would, which is why it works with every 3CX edition, extension type, and endpoint. Billing is a flat $0.25 per minute with no contract or minimum, far below the $1.50 to $3.50 per minute typical of human phone interpreters. After you hang up, a two-language transcript and an AI summary of the conversation are saved to your TalkTool dashboard.

Add a live interpreter to a 3CX call
- 1
Get your TalkTool number and org code
Sign up for TalkTool to receive your conference-in phone number and a short organization code. Keep both somewhere your 3CX agents can reach quickly — a speed dial, a shared note, or a saved contact in the 3CX phonebook.
- Add the TalkTool number as a 3CX speed dial or BLF key for one-press access
- Your org code is the same for every agent on the account
- No 3CX admin or marketplace install is required to get started
- 2
On a live 3CX call, add a line to TalkTool
While you are connected to your customer, use the Conference control in your 3CX Web Client, desktop app, mobile app, or deskphone (or an attended/warm transfer) and dial your TalkTool conference number to bring it onto the call.
- In the 3CX apps this is the Conference action on the in-call screen
- On a deskphone, use the Conf soft key, then dial TalkTool
- If you prefer, dial TalkTool first and have it call the customer in step 4
- 3
Enter your org code, then the language
When TalkTool answers, key in your organization code and press #. Then enter the two-digit code for the language the other person speaks — for example, 01 for Spanish — so the interpreter knows which direction to translate.
- Enter digits using your 3CX dialpad / DTMF keypad during the call
- The two-digit code maps to the customer's language, not English
- A reference list of language codes lives in your TalkTool dashboard
- 4
Press 1 to dial out, or 2 if already connected
If you used 3CX to start a fresh call, press 1 and TalkTool will dial your customer and join everyone together. If the customer is already conferenced into the 3CX call, press 2 and TalkTool will begin interpreting the people already on the line.
- Press 2 for the most common case: customer already on the 3CX call
- Press 1 when you want TalkTool to place the outbound leg for you
- Merge the 3CX legs so all parties hear the interpreter
- 5
Talk normally and review the records
Speak naturally and pause briefly after each thought — the AI relays each side in the other language within a second or two. When the call ends, open your TalkTool dashboard to read the two-language transcript and the AI summary.
- Short, complete sentences interpret most cleanly
- Transcripts and summaries are saved automatically per call
- Billing is a flat $0.25/min for the interpreted time
Why add TalkTool to 3CX calls
Live AI translation on the calls you already make — nothing to install.
Works with your existing 3CX setup
Nothing to install in 3CX — no marketplace app, no API connector, no admin project. TalkTool joins as a conference participant over the phone network, so it works on every 3CX edition and endpoint.
60+ languages on demand
Pick the caller's language with a two-digit code at the start of the call. Switch languages call-to-call without any configuration in 3CX.
Live, ~1-2 second interpretation
The AI relays both sides of the conversation almost in real time, so your 3CX agent and the customer hold a natural back-and-forth instead of a stop-start exchange.
Flat $0.25 per minute
No contracts, no minimums, no per-seat licensing. A 20-minute interpreted call costs about $5 — roughly 6 to 14x cheaper than human phone interpreters.
No app for your customer
The other party stays on the same 3CX call and simply hears a natural-sounding voice in their language. Nothing to download, sign up for, or configure on their end.
Transcript and summary every call
After you hang up, TalkTool saves a side-by-side two-language transcript and an AI summary to your dashboard for QA, follow-up, or your records.

Scalability
If your team runs 3CX, you can add live interpretation to a call without touching your dial plan, buying a marketplace app, or asking the caller to install anything. TalkTool joins the call as an AI interpreter over the phone, using the same Conference and warm-transfer controls your agents already use every day.
How TalkTool works on a 3CX call
3CX already gives every agent the controls needed to bring a third party onto a live call — the Conference action in the Web Client and desktop and mobile apps, the attended (warm) transfer flow, and the Conf soft key on supported deskphones. TalkTool plugs into that existing capability. Instead of conferencing another colleague, your agent dials the TalkTool conference number, and TalkTool answers like any other participant.
From there the flow is a short DTMF sequence on the 3CX dialpad: enter your org code and #, key in the two-digit language code for the caller (for example, 01 for Spanish), then press 1 to have TalkTool dial the customer or 2 if the customer is already on the line. The AI then interprets both directions live. Because none of this lives inside 3CX, there's nothing for your 3CX admin to provision — see how to conference in an AI interpreter for the full walkthrough.
AI interpreter vs. a human phone interpreter
Traditional over-the-phone interpretation means putting the caller on hold, dialing a vendor line, waiting in a routing queue, and briefing a human before anyone can talk — and then keeping a third person on every call. TalkTool connects in seconds, runs 24/7, and keeps the conversation to just your agent and the customer, with the AI relaying each side in about one to two seconds.
For routine business calls — appointment scheduling, order status, support tickets, billing questions — that's usually all you need. When a call legally requires a certified human interpreter, use one; for everything else, the AI is faster and dramatically cheaper. If you're moving off an incumbent vendor, the LanguageLine alternatives page covers the trade-offs.
Who at a 3CX shop benefits
3CX is popular with SMBs and mid-market teams running their own PBX — medical and dental offices, property management and HOAs, logistics and dispatch, municipal and utility front desks, home services, and outsourced contact centers. These are exactly the teams that field Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole, or Arabic calls without a bilingual agent free.
A receptionist on the 3CX Web Client, a dispatcher on a deskphone, or a queue agent on a softphone can all add TalkTool the same way, mid-call, the moment they realize there's a language gap. Because it's per-minute with no commitment, even teams that only hit a handful of these calls a week can keep it on standby.
What it costs
TalkTool is a flat $0.25 per minute of interpreted time — no contracts, no minimums, no per-seat fees layered on your 3CX licensing. A 20-minute interpreted call is about $5. The same call through a human interpreter at $1.50–$3.50/min would run $30–$70.
There's nothing to install and nothing to migrate, so the cost to try it is essentially one phone call. Full pricing is on the pricing page, and the reduce interpreter costs guide breaks down the savings against a typical OPI bill.
